About Michelle Williams
Career to Date
I started my legal career many moons ago, initially as a legal secretary, then as a legal executive. In 2000 I decided it was high time to become a lawyer. I was finally admitted to the bar in 2007. Ten years later, I am now an associate at Gibson Sheat in Masterton.
I am passionate about forming relationships with my clients and really getting to know them and their families. This is not only important to me and makes me tick, it is very important in the fields of law that I specialise in, which are property, estate and succession planning, elder law, wills, enduring powers of attorney and deceased estates.

My approach to working with my clients
I like to keep life and work simple and I do my best to follow this approach with my clients. I have been told that what my clients love about me is my honest, down to earth, uncomplicated approach. My clients tell me that the way I deliver legal advice makes sense to them, and I'll often hear them say "Finally, a lawyer I can understand!".
The best piece of advice I've ever been given
Set a goal and strive to exceed it.
What stimulates me
Helping people so that they achieve their goals and dreams and spending time with my friends and family, which generally involves a lot of laughter, over a large table full of food, flowers and wine and generally results in some form of dancing.
What I enjoy outside of work
Cooking, gardening, art, literature and travel – don’t forget the travel. I love adventures, be it around New Zealand or anywhere around the world.
If I wasn't a lawyer I'd be...
a food and travel writer.
