About Alexandra

Career to date

“Before joining the Gibson Sheat team in August 2016, I worked at two boutique firms in Wellington where I gained invaluable experience in a variety of areas including company and commercial law, intellectual property, commercial and residential property, family law, District and High Court debt recovery and trusts.”

Alexandra is a Senior Solicitor in our Commercial Team and advises clients on a range of company and commercial matters including leasing, licensing, franchising, business structuring and sales and purchases, corporate governance and intellectual property.  In the private client area, Alexandra advises individuals on residential property sales and purchases, relationship property and asset protection.

Alexandra is also one of very few commercial lawyers in Wellington who speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.  She also works closely with Fran Zhao, a Solicitor in our Property and Immigration Teams who also speaks fluent Mandarin.

My approach to working with my clients

No job is too easy or too small because the job will always be important to the client.  I take a relaxed, practical and thorough approach when working with my clients.  Clients often come to see me during very stressful times so I take the time to not just hear but listen to their needs then tailor a practical effective solution for them.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given

Growing up my Grandfather etched in my brain:  “there’s always room for improvement” and it is something I’ve lived by to this day.

A close second is from one of my favourite books:  “On ne voit bient qu’avec le coeur.  L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeuse” – One can only see well with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes.

What stimulates me?

New challenges keep me motivated.  In both my professional and personal life, I try to learn something new every day.

What I enjoy outside of work
I love spending time with family and friends exploring new dining venues in and out of town.  I also love the ballet, exploring new places and a good run or yoga session before sitting down with a good book.
If I wasn't a lawyer I'd...

I’m not sure as I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer… perhaps a full time traveler or a food blogger with an emphasis on desserts!
