About Alex Kirkwood
Career to DateI started with Gibson Sheat in 2011, as a legal secretary. I was part way through studying the New Zealand Law Society’s Legal Executive Diploma, which - with the support of the firm - I completed, qualifying as a Legal Executive in 2014.
Alex is a Legal Executive based in the Wellington Office. She works predominantly in residential property conveyancing, but also has experience in trust administration work.

My approach to working with my clientsBuying or selling property can be such an exciting time, where situations can change in a matter of moments. I like to plainly communicate with clients to keep them informed of progress through the course of their transaction, so they can trust that I am working to exceed their expectations.
I also attend as many seminars and webinars as possible, in order to keep up-to-date with legal matters relevant to my work. This means that my clients can trust that their situations are being considered in accordance with current law issues and legislation.
The best piece of advice I’ve ever been givenI recall my dad often advising me to “measure twice, cut once”, which was sound advice called upon during my sewing class at college. However, this still rings true to me today, where I double-check the details of my work before hitting that final button.
What stimulates meI am inspired by travel. I find meeting people and hearing their stories extremely motivating.
What I enjoy outside of workI’m a huge music fan, so weekends are often spent checking out gigs or concerts. I also love to snowboard, so during winter I spend as much time as possible visiting the snow (usually Ruapehu or Queenstown). I spend my spare time running and taking boxing classes in an effort to keep fit.
If I wasn’t a legal executive I’d beWorking at a ski resort in Canada, or Switzerland, and snowboarding every available moment! Or working behind the scenes for big concerts or festivals.
