Gibson Sheat is a busy practice. We are in growth mode and seeking another partner to join our Wairarapa office to future-proof the firm.

About the Role:

You will join as a Partner managing your own caseload and will be responsible for growing and developing your practice. You will also lead and manage other authors, providing ongoing coaching and mentoring. You will have knowledge of a wide range of general practice matters and may have some specialist areas of interest too. A transferable client base is desirable but not essential.

The firm will consider someone who is currently a Partner or a Senior Lawyer ready to step into Partnership now or in the near future.

Key Responsibilities:

Gibson Sheat is looking for a Senior lawyer that has experience across multiple areas, however there is no ‘perfect background’. Depending on your areas of expertise and interests, your practice could include the following:

  • Residential Property
  • Commercial Property
  • General Commercial work for small and medium sized businesses
  • Estate Administration/Planning
  • Employment
  • Agri-business, farming and rural property/farm syndication
  • Trusts and Wills

Key Requirements:

  • At least eight years of post-admission experience within a law firm;
  • A reputation for integrity and honesty within the profession and your community;
  • Experience in successfully leading and mentoring other lawyers, and team/culture development initiatives;
  • Ability to ensure all staff and partners you work with, are valued, supported and encouraged;
  • Ability to quickly build rapport with clients, and excellent client relationship management skills;
  • Strategic and innovative, so you’re able to contribute to the firm’s strategic direction, plan and new initiatives;
  • Technically competent and an advocate for improving efficiencies through technology;
  • Experience and success in generating new business and maintaining a sustainable client base; and
  • Passionate about the living and working in the Wairarapa region.
