With offices in Wellington CBD, Lower Hutt and Masterton, Gibson Sheat is a great place to work if you value balance, a fabulous team culture, and a variety of quality work.

Due to increasingly high levels of work within our Lower Hutt Elder and Succession Law team, and with an eye to the future growth of this team, we have a vacancy for a full-time Senior Lawyer (7+ years PQE).

The team undertakes a wide variety of work including administration of estates with modest to high value, preparing wills and enduring powers of attorney, estate planning, trust administration, retirement village transactions and disputes, court applications under the Protection and Personal and Property Rights Act, estate disputes including litigation, residential care subsidy, and loan applications, elder financial abuse, managing client affairs, and debt recovery work for operators of residential care facilities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in estate administration, estate planning, wills, and enduring powers of attorney. You will also have the opportunity to do a range of retirement village work, deal with estate disputes, residential care matters, and trust administration.

Ideally, you will have at least 7 years of relevant experience within a law firm. You will be the kind of person who relates well to all generations of clients, is empathetic, and puts people at ease while helping our clients sort out their important family affairs. You will have a strong work ethic, be flexible, and be a real team player.

We offer:

  • The opportunity to join a firm that’s got a wonderful culture.
