Services

As you get a little older, it's nice to know that there are knowledgeable, kind, and considerate people ready to help you plan your affairs to ensure that you are heard.

To help you and your family plan and understand what these plans mean, we have specialists in elder law that can advise you and answer your questions. We can assist you and your family by ensuring all property and personal needs are taken care of now and for the future, should you, or someone you love, not be able to do so.

Wills

A Will is one of the most important documents you will make.

A Will states what will happen to your property and how loved ones are cared for after you die.

Preparing your will can be straightforward but is becoming less so. It is important to understand the effect of the law otherwise your wishes may not be able to be followed.

There is some legislation that means that your Will could be challenged, such as relationship property issues, claims by close relatives if they feel they haven't been fairly treated, or promises you may have made to provide for someone in your Will in return for work or services.

We'll listen and take the time to explain your Will to ensure it clearly records your wishes so that those wishes can be carried out when the time comes.

Estate Administration

A death in the family can be a confusing and overwhelming time. Our support of loved ones through the legal and grieving process can provide help and support at a stressful time. It is our privilege to ensure the deceased's wishes are carried out and their estate is properly administered in a considerate and caring way.

If someone's affairs are not in order or their estate is a little more complicated, our estate lawyers are able to lead you through the process for an application to the High Court in New Zealand for probate and letters of administration on intestacy (when someone dies without a will) or administering estates where a deceased held property overseas.

Estate Disputes

Unfortunately, estate disputes can arise because a family member thinks that they have not been adequately provided for in the Will.

If you or your family are concerned about a dispute of a Will, or would like advice on how to dispute a Will, then consulting a trusted expert can help make the process easier. We can offer advice on how to deal with estate claims, and work with you to manage the resolution of them outside court or otherwise.
