About Brett GouldCareer to dateI graduated from Auckland University and have had the pleasure and privilege to practise in New Plymouth, Queenstown and now Masterton. I also hold an MBA (Distn) from Massey University, and enjoy using that knowledge and experience in the commercial and agri-business areas.Brett has a strong commercial and rural practice across several farming types, based on guiding parties into the most appropriate governance, management, operational, dispute resolution and succession provisions. For the last decade he has been closely involved in farm syndications. He acts for a number of professional syndicators, closely held syndicates and represents parties in the same when legal and practical issues arise. Brett is well experienced in the company arena and has had considerable experience with limited partnerships since 2008. His expertise in Shareholder Agreements has seen him author an Auckland District Law Society precedent for the same. A member of the NZLS Rural Committee and an AMINZ Fellow in Mediation, Brett sits on its Rural Committee and its panel of rural conciliators. He has presented at a number of Future Farms, NZLS, Lexis Nexis and other seminars, and has authored a number of articles on rural syndication and related matters. My recent workOver the last 10 years I have completed over 50 professionally managed and even more, closely held farm syndications and numerous farm sales and purchases and farm succession arrangements.Professional associations and community organisations
My approach to working with my clientsAfter establishing the necessary trust, relationship with, and confidence of clients, I strive to go the extra mile for each of them. As a result many of my clients do not live in close proximity and the strong relationship continues. My most rewarding experience at workI have found it very rewarding working with Myfarm and two other professional farm syndicators at the forefront of professional farm syndication in New Zealand. I also enjoy working with my private farming clients in closely held syndications and particularly in farm succession. The best piece of advice I've ever been givenYou don't get anything for nothing. What stimulates me?Making a difference. What I enjoy outside of workI enjoy golf, swimming and cycling, wine, travel and reading. If I wasn't a lawyer I'd...be a mediator/conciliator or a philosopher. |
