Developing business ties with Viet Nam

On Saturday 4 June 2016 the inaugural Air New Zealand direct flight to Viet Nam left Auckland for Ho Chi Minh city. On board were Nigel Stirling, Gibson Sheat’s Chairman of Partners, and Khoa Nguyen of Viet River Holdings, who is also chair of the Viet Nam chapter of ASEAN New Zealand Business Council. Nigel and Khoa were in heading to Viet Nam to present at a New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) business event. The event was focussed on facilitating business, investment, education, and other opportunities between the people of NZ and the people of Viet Nam.

While in Ho Chi Minh City Nigel and Khoa took the opportunity to present a Wellington Phoenix football to the New Zealand Consul General and NZTE Trade Commissioner to Viet Nam, Mr Tony Martin. The ball was presented on the basis that it should not be placed on a shelf but is to be actively kicked around the office!

As part of his presentation Nigel mentioned the education and football opportunity that exists through the Phoenix for Vietnamese students. Students can attend secondary school in Wellington while also receiving a football education through the Wellington Phoenix Football Academy and FootSchool programmes.
