Gibson Sheat recently appointed Cameron Madgwick as its first Chief Executive Officer.

Cameron has a background as a lawyer and governance professional. As a lawyer, both in a national law firm and in-house with Contact Energy, Vector and New Zealand Rugby, and as a leader of enterprises, most recently as CEO of PEPANZ (Petroleum Explorers and Producers Assn of NZ).

Cameron has undertaken a significant amount of voluntary community work, he was chair of Community Law Centres o Aotearoa for nine years, and he established a new entity to represent community law centres nationally. He is currently chairperson of the Laura Fergusson Trust, a charitable body that supports people with disabilities.

Cameron is a strong leader and excellent builder of relationships; he has managed growth and raised the profile of organisations he has represented.

Gibson Sheat’s chairperson, Nigel Stirling, says “Cameron has outstanding personal and professional qualities that will make him a wonderful leader at Gibson Sheat.”

Cameron will be driving the delivery of the firm’s strategic plan, including its growth and innovation ambitions. Drawing on his experience both as a lawyer, and as a purchaser of legal services, Cameron will be well placed to bring a new perspective to the firm’s client service delivery. He will be working across the three offices in Wellington, Lower Hutt and Masterton.
