At Gibson Sheat we’re focussed on delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients. The way we do that is by attracting and retaining the best people to ensure that our clients have access to the right advice when they want it.

That is why we’re delighted to share with you the appointment of four new Partners, a new Senior Solicitor and new Associate Legal Executive.

Gibson Sheat’s four new partners

Two of Gibson Sheat’s new Partners Aimee McGowan and Dahl Calder have been promoted from within, reflecting the pair’s outstanding contribution to our clients, business and culture.

New Partner and Cantabrian Tony Herring joined Gibson Sheat’s Wellington office in March 2021. Tony brings a wealth of experience in the government sector with him, while Wellington-based Jared Holt brings a wide-reaching commercial and legal background. Jared will balance his partnership duties with his career as an opera singer.

Gibson Sheat Chair Claire Byrne welcomes the new additions, each of whom comes with a strong track record of delivering success for clients.

“Aimee has risen quickly through the ranks at Gibson Sheat and her promotion to Partner is recognition of her talent and her way with people. She will join Partners Julie Millar and Brett Gould in our Masterton office, reinforcing Gibson Sheat’s commitment to our regional clients.”

“Dahl’s promotion recognises the value of his practical and solution-focused approach to his client’s needs. He will join Partner Edward Cox in our Wellington Litigation team.”

“We are thrilled to have Tony join us from his home in Christchurch. His specialised work with government and crown property will be an asset to our clients in many areas.”

“Jared has considerable experience in delivering positive results for his clients in construction and disputes. He joins Partner Finn Collins in our Construction team,” Byrne said.

Laura Ridenton promoted to Senior Solicitor

Laura Ridenton’s local and international experience with commercial and sports clients enables her to bring new perspective to her client’s challenges.

“With a Masters in International Sports Law and additional upskilling in Privacy and Intellectual Property, Laura’s focussed approach is an asset to her clients,” says Claire Byrne.

Jodie Martin promoted to Associate Legal Executive

A cornerstone in the Lower Hutt property team, Jodie Martin brings a wealth of experience to her client’s needs.

“Having worked across a range of areas in her career, Jodie’s focus on understanding her clients and having them at the centre of her work are core to the Gibson Sheat philosophy and we’re very lucky to have her with us”.
