Helen joined the partnership of Gibson Sheat in December 2021 after 16 years at a national law firm.
Helen’s key areas of focus are litigation and construction. She has a particular focus on professional regulatory issues, health law, public law, and commercial disputes. In terms of construction, Helen advises clients on the 'front end' aspects of a construction project, including the drafting and negotiation of contract documentation, and also assists clients to resolve complex disputes when they arise on a project. She regularly acts in adjudication claims under the Construction Contracts Act, High Court proceedings, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution such as mediation and negotiation.
Helen is a member of the Society of Construction Law and the Wellington Medico-legal Society. She is also chairperson of the board of trustees of Eastern Hutt School.
Outside of work, Helen enjoys spending time with her family, and especially her three young sons.
