About

Before joining Gibson Sheat Malcolm spent twenty one years in a well-established Wellington general practice where he progressed from the after-school office boy to a partner.

Malcolm was admitted to the bar in 2005 and since then has enjoyed the variety of a broad general practice. He finds satisfaction in helping people at all stages of their lives - whether it be helping them with advice on commercial contracts or devising a succession plan so that they can retire from a long-held family business.

Malcolm was recently appointed as a board member of the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the New Zealand Law Society property law section. He is also president of the Wellington Pipers' Club Inc. and a member of St. Margaret's church, in Silverstream.

Outside of work, Malcolm has played bagpipes in pipe bands at the top level in New Zealand since 1996. He has been fortunate to have travelled a lot with bands (including many trips to compete in Scotland) and to have made many long and lasting friendships through piping. The demands of family life have started to eat into piping time, but he still keeps involved and still competes at the highest level.

Malcolm has two daughters who are getting into bike riding, skiing, swimming, and tennis and he enjoys spending time with them doing those things. In the rare moments that the house is quiet, he likes to put on some music and read a book.
