We also advised the shareholders of JD Edwards NZ, a software company, in relation to a take over by publicly listed JD Edwards & Co of Colorado. As the New Zealand company owned an Australian subsidiary the transaction involved the purchase of shares in two jurisdictions and cross border issues involving the three companies. We represented the Medical Officer of Health in an attempt to persuade the Liquor Licensing Authority to decline applications by supermarkets to sell beer and wine after midnight. We have a fascinating niche in Sports Law. We advise national sporting organisations on a range of sports and commercial issues. One example was the complex agreement for Wellington Rugby in relation to the new Wellington Stadium. Notable also are the Olympic selection Appeals conducted on behalf of cyclist Graeme Miller and the New Zealand Equestrian Federation. Our litigation team appears in Courts throughout New Zealand, including the Court of Appeal, High Court, District Court, specialised Tribunals and Coroner's Inquiries.
