Willie Hamilton - Solicitor

After graduating from the University of Canterbury in 2007 I worked for the litigation practice of a large South Island-based law firm, where I gained practical experience in a number of areas of civil litigation practice including insolvency, insurance, general contract disputes, employment and debt recovery. I joined Gibson Sheat in May 2011.

My approach to working with my clients

I work closely with clients to understand the specific outcome they want to achieve, and the individual factors that drive them, in order to provide advice that is practical and relevant. I like to do the hard work up front to get a strategy in place from the outset that will direct how my clients’ interests are advanced. I pride myself on being friendly, approachable, and available.

What stimulates me

I thrive on the competitive aspect of litigation practice. There is no better feeling than delivering a great result for your client based on a solid strategy implemented through hard work.

What I enjoy outside of work

I enjoy keeping fit by running and going to the gym. I derive much greater enjoyment, however, from playing golf, adding to my expanding collection of 1980’s-era hip hop music, reading and watching sport, usually with a bet or two on.
