About David Anderson

Career to date

"I was admitted in 2004 and spent the first 2½ years of my career practicing in New Plymouth where I was involved in a wide range of areas including criminal defence to general litigation in which I gained invaluable experience on my feet in court.

I moved to Wellington in early 2007 to work at Gibson Sheat."

David specialises in civil litigation. He deals with a range of litigation work including debt recovery, dispute resolution and road transport law.

My Recent Work

Given the current economic climate I am heavily involved in recovery work for creditors, both businesses and also individuals.  

Professional Associations and Community Organisations

I am a founding member of The Marauders, a Sunday League football team.

My approach to working with my clients

I try and be open minded and solutions based. I like to educate my clients so they know exactly what they're up against and the costs involved so they can make an informed decision.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given

"If you don't know, say so."

What stimulates me

The variety and challenge. It's good to see something through from A to Z.

I like a challenge. One such example was taking a case for a client in an area of law I initially knew nothing about, going head to head against a lawyer who was experienced in this area, and after lots of work succeeding for my client.

What I enjoy outside of work

I love sport. I'm an avid footballer, playing each week and supporting the Phoenix. I also enjoy going to concerts and eating out with friends and family.

If I wasn't a lawyer I'd be...

A town planner. Thankfully I was talked out of that career path.
