Career to date

"I have worked at Gibson Sheat since 1985. I was originally in the Administration team for a short time before moving to the Estates team."

Robyn is the leader of our Estates and Elder Law team.  Having worked in this area for many years Robyn has a wealth of knowledge and experience with which to assist our clients.  Robyn's caring and sympathetic manner are a huge asset and her role is often not just that of a legal adviser but also a confidant and counsellor.

I am a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Legal Executives and a Justice of the Peace.

My approach to working with my clients

I'm approachable, friendly and knowledgeable. As well as keeping up-to-date with the law I make sure I know what resources are available to assist clients so that I can direct them to the right support and help for them.

The most rewarding experience I've had at work

The most rewarding thing is to see my clients moving on with their lives, knowing that their wishes will be carried out.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given

A colleague once told me "just get on and get the work done". I'm not sure it's the best piece of advice, but I definitely took it to heart.

What stimulates me

I enjoy helping people at what is often a vulnerable time in their lives. It's really rewarding when clients know they have done everything they need to and can move on. It's great to see them climbing back up from the low point.

What I enjoy outside of work

I have a passion for collecting New Zealand art, visiting galleries attending live theatre and musical shows.  I enjoy mixing with people who like the same things as me. I am a grandma and I love spending time with my grandchildren.

If I wasn’t a legal executive I’d be…

Possibly a marriage and funeral celebrant. I am a Justice of the Peace, and this would tie in nicely.
